Revisiting An Old Classic

This post is especially for a kindred stitcher over at
who just today posted the exact same design. I got a little thrill to see that somewhere else in the world somebody else loved this design as much as I do.
SNAP!

I stitched this design about 15 years ago when my husband and I moved into one of our first homes together. I found the pattern in a throw away bin at a local craft store for 50c. I've added the 'Fruits of the Spirit' from Galatians Chapter 5 around the outside edge of each of the nine squares of the design. It was just the perfect size for a cushion front.

That original cushion has long faded and gone and so last year I revamped the stitched piece and sewed it onto this cushion.

Hooked on Crochet

I bought a book from Spotlight. A great beginners manual with some lovely projects. I really enjoyed learning the zig zag chevron stitch. It took me awhile to work out the pattern since I've always crocheted just by looking at a piece and copying the stitches and was never taught to read a pattern. So it's been an achievement learning to crochet from a pattern.

I just LOVE the colours

Enough wool left over for a scarf....

...and an extra cushion...

'Fingerless Gloves'
Another of the cute projects Little Miss and I taught ourselves to make.

My favourite crochet stitch at the moment though is this simple 'V' stitch.

This month I also discovered 'Mr Tea'. Isn't he cute. Just add your favourite tea leaves and let him soak in your tea cup.

Retro Clock

Look what we got recently. From the very talented couple at Iburnthings on Etsy and Facebook. He's made from an old LP vinyl record. You can chose from different genres of music. He's so cute and we love him.

We've recently discovered that Dachshund owners are as crazy on memorabilia as Cavalier owners. Or maybe just all doggy people are the same...we don't know. This little fellow is one of their best sellers.

I'm not earning anything from giving them a mention here by the way, just so you know. I just love their creativity and thought I'd share what I found.

Who's been sitting in my chair?

It's Autumn here now and we're all debating over who actually owns this chair!!! Is it Jaspers?

Or is it Marley's?

Actually It's Mums chair, but you wouldn't know it. Whenever she's busy cleaning the house or on the phone and turns her head for a moment the chair is taken.

As the weather cools it's time to start making some warm and cuddly items for the home. Crocheting scarves, cushions and a lovely blanket is almost finished. Just the tedious job of sewing all the pieces together. This little cushion didn't take long though. It was done in an evening.

Jasper has given it his stamp of approval.
