We hope you enjoyed the birds as much as we did...although Marley and Jasper are a bit naughty and love to chase them around the yard when they see birds on the grass. Does your dog chase birds too?

Australia Zoo - Part II - Cute and Cuddly

Well hello there...and welcome back. Please come and see all my cuddly friends...

...some of us love to sleep the day away...

...and others of us just LOVE to eat...

...so when you come to visit Australia Zoo you can buy a bag of kangaroo food for just 50 cents and hand feed us as much as you like...

...we're very tame as you can see...

...and love to laze out in the midday sun!

So if some of us have had enough to eat and decide to sleep...there are always plenty more to feed. Just roam around the zoo and we'll come looking for YOU!

Our friendly koala friends love to get a pat too!.....Yawn.....they're very lazy though and just love to sleep.....and sleep.....and sleep.....

Australia Zoo

 We wanted to share with you some photos of our trip to Australia Zoo. It was a few years ago now, but one of our blog readers was talking about the tigers at this zoo the other day, so I dug out some old photos to share with you...

As you can see from the directions board Australia Zoo is home to a large variety of Australian animals. In recent years they have added animals native to other countries as well - elephants, tigers, even cheetahs. But I'll leave them for another post. For today though I wanted to show you some photos of the crocodiles.

Say hello to this big fellow....up close and personal with a Saltwater Croc!

Steve Irwin was most famous for his dealings with crocodiles. He was known as 'The Crocodile Hunter'.

Did you know a saltwater crocodile can use his tail to propel himself straight up out of the water to catch his prey! Is that a scary thought? Don't think I'll be leaning down to drink out of any rivers in northern Queensland too soon after seeing this.

....C'mon Big Fella....come and get your num nums!

Crocodiles are very fast in the water...but slower on land...still I wouldn't be getting too close.

Oops...what do you think you're doing in here? A bit of an identity crisis I think. You're a Komodo Dragon not a croc!

reminds our Mummy so much of me (Marley) when I was a little puppy and first came to my new home. I was only 8 weeks old.

I arrived with my 'Mama Bunny'...that is my stuffed bunny toy that smelt like my doggy Mummy and helped me to feel at home.

At 12 weeks old I was still very caramel coloured. Lots of white puppy fluff mixed in with my tan fur.

At 13 weeks old I started losing my puppy fluff and was looking more tan.

At 14 weeks I was looking less fluffy and more sleek.

At 15 weeks

Mummy says I was a skinny little runt.

I think I've turned out alright...even with my 'beauty spots' - don't you?

Once all my feathering kicked in Mummy said I looked quite elegant.

Can you outrun a tiger?

My favourite animal in the whole wide world....after my Cavaliers ofcourse...is the tiger!

 Last year we visited a wildlife park and one of our favourite shows was the Tigers.

As much as I love them I am filled with a sense of shivering awe. I always thought if I was ever confronted by a tiger I would run to the nearest tree and climb up.

Did you know Tigers climb trees?

I didn't....that gave me the shivers....brrrr...

 I don't think I'd want to come face to face with one. Just look at those teeth!

 I thought this one was just amazing...the sheer size compared to his trainer.

Sitting up and begging like a puppy dog - now that's cute!

Just seeing them airborne like this made me realize just how high they can jump...

...and how far they can leap...

...even the water couldn't protect you because they love to swim...

I don't think I could outrun a Tiger. Could you?

PS. I just added another photo in answer to a comment. At certain times of the day the trainers walk one of the tigers around the park and anyone can come up and pat them, but only from the back.
